So What is a Peaceful Life Anyway?

I spend a lot of time writing about tools for a peaceful life. There have been several posts about a peaceful life on this blog alone. We talk about meditation, breathing, mindfulness, forgiveness, and many other topics. We talk about the ways to find peace, but we really have never talked about what peace is, and in turn what a peaceful life is.

Here’s how I think about peace. Everyone is unique and they have their own perspective. You probably have your own definition if you’ve given it much thought.

My definition of peace –

For me, peace is not sitting in a zen state on a cushion, chanting aum, twenty-four seven. It is the peace that comes from knowing you are worthy, empowered, capable of doing great things. It is the confidence that comes with the knowing. It is the potential for unlimited potential in all areas of your life. It is strength through your faith in your Creator. It is grabbing a hold of the power of your Creator’s healing energy and using it for the fulfillment of your purpose – the reason you were created to be here in this place, at this time.

Peace is no longer having fear in your life. It is no longer being afraid of your success or your failure. It is knowing that you are a survivor, a victor, an overcomer – and you are going to do great things.

That is how I view peace.

So what is a peaceful life?

A peaceful life, then, means a life that is lived with the full knowing that whatever you need will be available. You have what you need to get it. You probably won’t have it handed to you on a silver platter (wouldn’t that be nice?), you will probably have to work for it.

A peaceful life is not always an easy life, but it is living your life with the assurance that there are so many tools available to you that you can accomplish what you need to do in the most peaceful way possible. For example, maybe you have a health issue that is causing you a lot of discomfort. You have many tools available – you can visit your doctor, you can find an emotion code or body code practitioner, you can implement new healthy habits, and you are the one who gets to choose. You can find the solutions that align with your values and what you want to do with your life.

Another example of having a peaceful life during hard times could include the loss of income – either through your job or the job of someone who was supporting you. You have the tools available to research what is available. You can look at finding a position with another company, or you can do your own thing as an entrepreneur. Hopefully you have already been using the tool of being prepared, and have enough to tide you over until you get situated again. If, for some reason, you don’t have what you need, there are people you can reach out to for assistance.

Neither of the two above situations are what we want, but we can have the peace inside knowing we are equipped. Having that sense of peace inside will allow you to continue living a peaceful life even in difficult times.

A few extra tools –

There are a few extra tools that I haven’t discussed much in the past. The first is the modality developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson. He is the originator of The Emotion Code, and later on The Body Code. The Emotion Code helps identify energies that block our brain and body’s ability to process things correctly. If you have issues with anger, or processing difficult emotions, this may be an excellent resource for you. The Body Code goes into a lot more depth, addressing such things in addition to emotions, as energy, circuits of systems of the body, toxins, pathogens, misalignments, and nutrition or lifestyle. While Dr. Nelson does not recommend you use the Body Code in place of necessary medical care, it is an amazing way to help your body do what it needs to be able to heal better.

Another tool I like is the book You vs. You by Todd Cahill. This book can help you get your life together! Todd is a co-founder of the InsideOut Institute and his book addresses the most important battles we face within ourselves every day.

The other tool that I would highly recommend is the InsideOut Institute, an organization that has helped me immensely over the past six months. They have free masterclass training on Thursdays, with a replay throughout the week if you cannot attend. The thing about the InsideOut Institute, is they offer a dual approach with transformational coaching along with some of the best Emotion Code practitioners in the world. (If you go to a class, please tell them Sue Pine sent you.)

Final thoughts about a peaceful life –

A peaceful life is not always an easy life, but it is the best life you can have. It will help you get past all the drama, all the hardships, and all the other things that try to interfere with you being the best self you can be. Once you find that best person inside, there is no holding you back.

You are going to leave a legacy and the people you have encountered, touched, and influenced along the way will do the same. Your existence – the fact that you are here – will have a significant impact on the world. It starts with your decision to find your purpose and go for it. Don’t hold back, there are no limits.

You have everything you need inside of you already to do this – yes, you!

Find your purpose – find your joy!

  1. Peace to me is not having to fight to get what I need. I love not having to wait tell payday to get groceries, or have to track the gas in my car to make it to work all the next week. Peace for me, is being able to do what I want when I want without the pressure of having to sacrifice something else to make it happen.

  2. Thank for sharing this very interesting information with us.

Being able to have a peaceful life is something that many of us seek and strive for but never seem to manage to find.

I think some of this is because we keep walking from one mess straight into another one.  I think that what we need to do is to stop.  Stop moving.  Sort out the issues in our current situation and only move when it is to solve or remove a current issue.

Too many of us spend our lives running.  It is time to stop running and get our lives sorted.  Make every step calculated and measured and start bringing ourselves some peace – before it kills us!

  4. Thanks for your very interesting article about tools for a peaceful life.  Meditation, breathing, mindfulness, forgiveness are good ways to find peace.  But what is peace anyway?  How can we live a peaceful life?

I agree with you that peace comes from knowing you are worthy, empowered, and capable of doing great things.  It is the realization and fulfillment of your potential in all areas of your life.

I like what you said about peace being “grabbing a hold of the power of your Creator’s healing energy and using it for the fulfillment of your purpose”.  I completely agree.

I also agree with you that “peace is no longer having fear in your life. It is no longer being afraid of your success or your failure.”

It was good to hear you say that “A peaceful life, then, means a life that is lived with the full knowing that whatever you need will be available”  and  “there are so many tools available to you”.

That makes perfect sense to me!

You give an example of having a peaceful life during hard times which could include the loss of income – either through your job or the job of someone who was supporting you. You have the tools available to research what is available.   That is so true!  For many years, I worked as an information technology consultant, either a project manager or business analyst.  Whenever a contract ended, I always had the tools available to research what was available at the time, and I used these fully, with much success!

You are right in saying:  “Having that sense of peace inside will allow you to continue living a peaceful life even in difficult times.”

Again, thanks for your very well written and encouraging article.

  5. I love this article Sue, thanks so much for sharing 🙂  I am very much into working on my mindset, in order to have that peaceful life.  I do morning and evening meditations, and read a lot of books.   I have never heard of the emotion code or body code though, so I will definitely be looking  more into those.  Once again, thanks a million for sharing 🙂  great read x
