Get Rid of Boredom to Find Passion, Purpose, and Peace

You get up in the morning. You do your daily stuff. You go to bed. You wake up the next day and do it all over again. Does it feel like you’re just going from one day to the next, without really loving or hating it? You’re just doing it, because that is the way it is.

Let me tell you, that is not just the way it is. You are just bored, and boredom is your enemy.

We all experience boredom at some point in life, and it stops us from meeting our full potential. If you want to get out of this rut and onto the fast track to success and fulfillment, you’re going to have to give up boredom. It’s time to declare you’ll never be bored again!

Dangers of boredom

When you were a kid, did you ever use the phrase “dying of boredom” or “so bored I could just die?” Recent studies have shown that it’s not just a saying – there is truth in being so bored you could die. Boredom can increase the stress hormones in your body, it can lead to chronic stress.

Boredom is also detrimental to your physical health. It makes you feel unfulfilled, unhappy, and tired. When you feel this way, you tend to want to lie around, veg, and basically do nothing. You become increasingly inactive. That inactivity leads to more inactivity, plus it leaves you feeling empty and miserable. The cycle becomes ongoing, and you’ve got to consciously break its path.

According to an article on Healthline, “The link between boredom and premature death isn’t fully understood. Rather than a direct cause-and-effect, researchers believe that long-term boredom may lead to health issues that can then reduce your life span.”

The only solution to getting out of the slump of boredom is to make a conscious decision to do something about it. Find something you like to do, set a time, and do it. If that doesn’t work, find something else. Keep trying until you have found things to keep your interest.

Boredom and purpose

How does boredom relate to finding your purpose? It’s simple. If you’re allowing yourself to be bored, you’re putting roadblocks in the way of finding the path that will lead you to the top of your personal mountain.

It’s important to have a purpose, because that purpose will motivate you to carry it out. You will feel happier and each morning have an exciting reason to get out of bed every day. It will keep you moving, active, and healthy.

There are no limits on what your purpose can be. We were all created for a reason. Your purpose may unfold in the way of a job, or a long term career, but it could turn out to be a hobby or charitable cause that allows you to share your gifts.

Finding your purpose may take some work. You may have a desire in your heart that requires training, or mentor ship. If it is truly your purpose, put in the effort. You will get so much self-satisfaction and fulfillment that your early efforts will seem insignificant.

What if you don’t know your purpose?

Sometimes we just don’t know why we are here. It’s not always obvious, especially when so much is going on around us. People tell you what they think you should do, they have expectation, and you may even start to wonder if they know more than you do.

How can you discover your special purpose? The answer is simple, but the process isn’t necessarily easy. You need to open yourself to all new experiences and get out there and do things. You mustn’t allow yourself to ever say you’re bored again!

Exploring the world around you. Whether you’re reading new books, exploring parts of your city you’ve never been to, or talking to people you’ve never met, you’ll discover new things about yourself, learn more about your surroundings, and experience new adventures.

New experiences have a lot to offer. They can give you a new perspective on things and reveal those areas where you have the most passion and interest. New encounters encourage you to try new things, develop new skill sets, and find out what you love and where you excel.

You can find purpose in the strangest places, so don’t rule out any activity. After all, if you try something and don’t like it, you don’t have to go back to it.

It’s having passions, and the perseverance to pursue them, that makes us stars. If you’ve been feeling like your life is empty, it’s time to fill it with some passion!
